Voice of the Land - Volume 36 PDF Print E-mail
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting year here at the Federation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Languages (FATSIL).  In 2008 we will be focussed on consulting with community and language centres to develop a positive and inclusive process for national advocacy and policy development.

We are engaging with key people within the new government and, with the assistance of Indigenous leaders like Warren Mundine, are identifying the best way to effect real change in the way Indigenous language education and development is viewed in this country.

We look forward to engaging with our membership and to grow stronger with unity. We all have a role to play in regards to lobbying the politicians, administrators and bureaucrats at the local, regional, state and national levels.  Let’s also make full use and take advantage of the fact that 2008 is officially recognised as the International Year of Indigenous Languages. We have a new Commonwealth Government and given the importance and significance of the recent apology, let’s come together in unity and use them to our advantage.

FATSIL Chairperson
